Project Update – November 2022

Project Update – November 2022

We would like to thank all marina users for their safe boating around the marina construction zone over the summer and busy boating period. Waikawa North West marina continues to take shape and despite some supply chain delays late last year, progress has been steady over summer with the first jetty piles now in place, and the breakwater is starting to come together with the concrete panels being proudly manufactured in Marlborough by Pre-cast Systems in Blenheim and being delivered to site for installation over the next few weeks.

Build Update and Recent Activities

Our breakwater Contractor has now completed the installation of raked piles for the breakwater and will be undertaking further work on these piles over the short term to ensure the piles meet designed capacities. Works have also been progressing on the installation of the concrete headstocks.

Jetties: All the jetty piles are now installed and floats have been installed on jetties 13, 14, 18, 19. Works are currently underway on the installation of Jetty 17 and the first floats for jetty 15 have started to arrive on site. Jetty float installation is on track to be complete by the end of 2022. The plan is to have Jetties 13, 14 and 15 available for the end of the year and the remaining to come online later in summer.

Buildings: T&D have progressed well on the first two buildings. The buildings are complete structures and they are currently working on lining and fitting out. The first buildings are planned to be complete in October.

Reclamation: Simcox have returned to site to continue their service installation works through site. The first roading the footpath works are due to start in October.
