This morning marked a significant milestone for Waikawa North West Marina, with the first vessels arriving today around 8am! 
Our Marinas and Waikawa Marina Project teams met the new berth holders on their arrival, and there was a flurry of activity as mooring lines and fenders were arranged, and contractors added finishing touches to Jetties 13W, 14W and 15W.
Following two and a half years of construction, project manager Grant Beattie said opening the first jetties was a significant milestone for the landmark project. “We would like to say a big thank you to the residents of Waikawa and to our existing berth holders for their patience during the marina construction.”
The marina extension provides another 251 berths for Marlborough Sounds Marinas, bringing the total berth number to 850 in Waikawa, with berth sizes ranging from 8 to 30 metres.
Stage one of allocations from the waiting list is almost completed and many of the berths are already spoken for on the available jetties. Marinas’ customer service manager Louise will allocate the remaining berths from our waiting list as they become available over the summer.

The grand opening of Waikawa North West will be held in March when construction is complete.
