Launching and Parking this Summer

Summer is a lively time in our marinas – especially over the school holidays and festive period. The days leading up to Christmas and also New Years’ can be particularly busy, so it’s a good idea to plan your trip to the marina ahead of time to ensure you can get out on the water as efficiently as possible!

We have recently updated our website with parking maps for each marina along with dates for accessing the designated overflow areas –
Trailer Boats and Parking page.

Please do have a read and get in contact with the Marinas Teams if you have any questions.

Launching Ramp Etiquette

We have a page here which goes through etiquette for the launching ramp in full, however the main points to remember are:

  • Boats being retrieved have right of way over boats being launched
  • Keep children off the launching ramp. Vehicles reversing cannot see children on the ramp
  • Ensure your boating passengers wait on the jetty or on the walkway – not on the ramp
  • Take extra caution walking on the ramps as they can be slippery
  • Keep dogs on a lead at all times in the marina

Short Stay Berthage

At all our marinas we provide two types of short stay berthage:

  • We provide visitor berths which are used for unscheduled stays and operate on a first in first serve basis.
  • We have visitor berths in Picton (visitor jetty and breastwork) for which payment can be made at the Beachcomber office or Marina Service Centre, Havelock at the end of Pier C and this year Waikawa as well, in front of the Waikawa Boating Club. The visitor berths can only be used for vessels of up to 10 metres and for a maximum stay of 24hours in Picton, 10 hours in havelock and 4 hours in Waikawa.
  • We also provide casual berthage (subject to availability). These berths need to be booked at the Marine Service Centre. Once booked the berth is guaranteed and an overnight rate applied.

And don’t forget our Marinas Teams are here help, contact details for each Marina Service Centre can be found at the bottom of this page.

Have a happy and safe holiday.
