Across two action‑packed days, 20 boats and 110 sailors took to the water — from 10‑year‑old newcomer Isaac Gillies to seasoned sailors with decades of experience behind them. The age range spanned more than 70 years, a clear reflection of the strong multigenerational boating community that thrives in Waikawa.

Strong north‑westerly conditions on Sunday meant racing had to be cancelled, but the race team’s forward planning ensured the programme stayed on track. By loading additional races into Saturday’s schedule, 17 races across the three divisions were successfully completed. The result was a full, competitive, and memorable weekend on the water — a fantastic start to the 2026 sailing season.
