Nopera Golf
There are very few quality golf courses as remote as Nopera, but access is only an issue if you’re looking for an excuse to avoid great golf, amazing scenery, good seasonal fishing, wonderful local accommodation and the relaxed local lifestyle.
If you’re boating from Havelock Marina, the Nopera Club has a mooring and dinghy available to visitors arriving by boat. Water taxis operate from Te Mahia, The Portage Hotel or Havelock. Large groups are welcome and transport is provided from local jetties for a small fee to cover the volunteer members’ costs.
Marlborough Sounds Marinas is a proud teebox sponsor of the club – and we are excited to say that the course is looking fantastic, and is a real testament to the wonderful volunteers in the committee. Despite managing with limited road access following the weather event a couple of years ago which has affected the Kenepuru Road, the committee has been working hard and the course is more popular than ever with visitors.
The committee reports that green fee players are finding access by boat is easier than by road and they have been hosting a number of groups.
The hard working volunteer crew has continued with maintenance and development of the course which is really starting to become a destination for golf tourism. Nopera Golf’s major annual tournament is the revamped Classic in February, and they will be starting the season with several smaller events which will be promoted as they eventuate.
