Season Summary – July 2015

As the weather turns colder, never fear – the scallop season is almost here!

From July 15th, scallop gathering can begin. To celebrate, we’re sharing a gorgeous recipe in this newsletter, and we would love you to share your favourite recipe with the Marlborough Sounds Marinas’ friends as well. See here for the recipe and the details of the competition and prize.

As well as our seafood, Marlborough is well known around the world for its pathways and tracks boasting incredible views and native abundance. A great number of people make a pilgrimage to our region all year round, to wander or cycle the land to gain access to the bays in the Sounds.

This experience is only going to get better once the Link Pathway is finished in 2019. Click here to read more.

We would also like to welcome Weldtech Engineering Services to the Havelock Marina. Weldtech have been in Havelock for the past three or so years, and have now moved into a purpose built workshop, where they continue to provide a diverse range of marine and general engineering. Feel free to pop in and say hello to Blair and his team.

Speaking of team, our team is all energised and ready to go for winter, after completing the first ever one day Outward Bound course. Fourteen of us made our way to Anakiwa, where we completed different group activities, including sailing a cutter, with everyone given a different job to do, and designing and building a raft that had to make it around a mooring and back (see above!).

We were asked to pack our togs, but to our relief they didn’t come out of the bag, and no one fell off their raft! The lunch was fabulous and our instructors were great fun, giving us lots of laughs. Would highly recommend it. Thanks Outward Bound!
