Marina Emergencies
A key area of focus for our marinas team of late, has been to review our emergency procedures and equipment.
This article provides a guideline for all our marina users, for what to do in case of an emergency, and introduces the equipment available.
FIRE On Vessels
- Call fire and emergency services on 111.
- Please evacuate the jetty & warn other people on the jetties of the danger.
- Inform the Marina Manager.
- Equipment such as fire extinguishers and hose reels are available on the jetties. A full review of the equipment we have has been undertaken and additional equipment is being installed across all three marinas. Please familiarise yourself with what fire equipment there is around you. In case of a fire event, please carefully assess the situation, this equipment can be used at your own risk.
MEDICAL
- Call fire and emergency services on 111.
- Automatic External Defibrillators are available outside each marina office and some additional units are also available outside some of the ablution blocks in Waikawa. You can also download the AED Locations app. This app also provides location of AED nearby.
- Please inform the Marina Manager.
SPILL
- Please call the Marina Manager. We are trained to deal with this type of emergencies.
- Spill kit equipment is available at the refuelling jetties in yellow bins.
- Additional kits can be found in:
- Waikawa by jetties 13W and 7E and on the hardstand
- Havelock by the ablution facility close to H pier
- Picton on jetty B, Town wharf and by the boatshed
- Please make sure you inform the marina office if you use some of this equipment so that it can be replenished.
