The highly anticipated Blue Cod season opens again on the 20th of December 2016. This is arguably one of the most iconic recreational fisheries in New Zealand, and the Marlborough Sounds is the place to reel them in.

The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture’s seasonal restrictions allow recreational fishers to enjoy the fishery, while helping ensure Blue Cod populations recover for future generations.

Blue Cod Season in the Sounds:
• Season opens: 20 December 2016 – 31 August 2017 inclusive
• Season closes: 1 September 2017 – 19 December 2017 inclusive

Daily limit: each fisher may take, or possess, no more than two blue cod at any one time
