Lochmara Lodge

Lochmara Lodge is always a popular spot for our boaties. The lodge has been locally owned and operated for over 20 years, and each season just keeps getting better!

Featuring 14 rooms, a waterfront cafe set right on the water’s edge and a permanently moored Underwater Observatory which is fantastic for kids and adults alike to explore the unique underwater environment of the Marlborough Sounds, and the creatures living there!

Lochmara is set on 11 acres of land in the Marlborough Sounds in Lochmara Bay, Queen Charlotte Sound. Only a short distance from Waikawa and Picton Marina for a morning cuppa or late afternoon happy hour drink.

For a small fee entry fee, explore the art and nature trails, and view the native Kakariki and eel feeding in the afternoon, play on the kayaks and paddle boards or walk the scenic 3.5km track to the world famous Queen Charlotte Track.

Savour the sights and tastes of the popular Lochmara waterfront café, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner  with a snack and kids menu as well. Dinner reservations are essential.
