Out with the old, in with the new!

We’re excited to let you know that the parking meters at Havelock, Picton, and Waikawa Marinas have been upgraded.

The old meters, which were over 15 years old, had become tricky to maintain and weren’t very user-friendly. To improve your experience, we’ve installed modern meters with intuitive touchscreens and even added extra units in busy areas to reduce walking distances. For boat ramp users, the new meters will help speed up the launching process, making it quicker and easier to get out on the water.

A few things to note:

• Each marina now has just one meter that accepts cash, so the old honesty boxes will be removed.
• We’ve introduced two hours of free parking at Waikawa and Havelock Marinas for visitors popping into local shops or hospitality venues. Just enter your vehicle registration at any meter to activate the free time.
• Marina customers can still use the PayMyPark app to pay for parking—and even top up remotely if you’re not ready to return to the mainland. Download PayMyPark for free from the iTunes Apple Store or Google Play
