WBC Women’s Regatta | 12–13 September 2026

Marlborough Sounds Marinas are delighted to support the Waikawa Boating Club (WBC) – Women’s Regatta 2026 which is shaping up to be a fantastic weekend both on and off the water. Set against the stunning backdrop of Waikawa Marina, this event celebrates women in sailing from first‑timers to experienced racers.

Across the weekend, competitors and supporters can look forward to:

  • two tailored racing divisions
  • a relaxed on‑water social event
  • an Olympic Gold Medallist guest speaker
  • Sunday breakfast rules tuition

WBC would love to see as many women as possible join in whether you’re racing competitively, building confidence and skills, or simply soaking up the atmosphere that makes the Marlborough Sounds such a special place to sail.

Two Divisions
To ensure everyone gets the most out of their experience, the regatta features an exciting two‑division format:

Division 1 – Racing Division

Designed for experienced crews who enjoy competitive sailing, this division offers a full racing programme including sprint races, cans racing and harbour courses. Ideal for established teams keen to test themselves on the water.

Division 2 – Development Division

Perfect for less experienced or novice sailors who want to learn, improve, and enjoy racing in a supportive environment. Racing will include a variety of mark‑foy style formats, with encouragement to rotate crew roles. Boats will be supported by experienced skippers who are there to mentor, teach and share their knowledge. This division also welcomes sailors who enjoy coaching and helping others grow their confidence.

No matter your background or ability, there truly is something for everyone.

On and Off the Water

Competitors are invited to kick off the weekend at Taste Marlborough, a Friday afternoon on‑water social event celebrating local flavours and great company. Spaces are limited, so be sure to book when registering.

Saturday evening features a highlight of the weekend — dinner with Olympic Gold Medallist Jenny Armstrong, fresh from her Sydney to Hobart campaign. Jenny will also be heavily involved throughout Division 2 racing, generously sharing her experience and passion for the sport. Dinner numbers are limited to 100 and must be booked as part of registration.

On Sunday morning, all competitors are invited to sharpen their rules knowledge with a breakfast tuition session led by an experienced National Judge.
