The National Whale Centre, located on the Picton foreshore and overlooking the commercial berths at Picton Marina, is a free-entry Display and Development Hub entirely dedicated to sharing the complete cetacean story.

They aim to give a future to the past by exploring the natural and cultural history of whales in New Zealand waters, and the informative displays bring to life the rich history of Marlborough’s whaling families as well as looking to the future to educate people on the importance of these amazing animals.
The Centre’s Vision is to further knowledge of and about cetaceans, with an emphasis on whales, whaling history and the ocean ecosystems through information, research and exhibition programmes. Through such programmes, they guide visitors in exploring local, national and international histories.interior-hub
