Race Report from Waikawa Boating Club

It was fantastic to get a Waikawa Boating Club race started after weather and lockdowns cancelled the last few attempted regattas and races. The first race in the Marlborough Marinas 10 race Spring Series got away on a perfect spring evening albeit with light winds.

Winds were so light that many of the 25 starters didn’t even unpack their sails heading out to the start line for the start boat to see their face. One knot winds in the marina soon livened up to 10 knots at times and all three grades started with some good racing.

Back at the club it was great to have the doors to the deck open and embrace the start of spring.
