Marlborough Sounds Marinas Spring Twilight Series – Race 5

After the disappointment of last week’s cancellation due to the strong winds everyone was keen to get back out for a night of Spring racing, and a turnout of 23 boats was a good showing. With a forecast of a gusty south-westerly dropping to a 5kt southerly a course straight down the Sound towards Anakiwa potentially posed some challenges if the falling forecast was correct. However, whilst the wind shift did happen, the breeze remained steady all night at an average of 15kts. Perfect for some drag racing.

There was another good turnout back in the Wardroom and the BBQ and meat raffle are both contributing to a great atmosphere.

Next race Tuesday 4th November – here’s hoping for some sunshine and warmer temperatures!
