Plans are underway to redevelop Havelock Marina, ensuring it continues to safely support access for Sounds Residents, aquaculture operations, and recreational boating for years to come.
Port Marlborough is undertaking this project by investing $9.9m in the redevelopment and with co-funding through a $9.9 million loan from the Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF) managed by Kānoa – Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit.
The project will involve dredging parts of the marina basin and channel to restore navigational depth, replacing ageing wooden piers with modern floating concrete jetties, and raising low-lying areas to improve resilience to flooding and future sea level rise.
The redevelopment is being progressed in stages, with works anticipated to begin once resource consents and project approvals are confirmed. Subject to consent, the first stage could begin from mid-2026, starting with the renewal of Jetties D and E, followed by Jetty F and the remaining wooden piers.
This page will be updated as the project progresses, including key milestones and updates for berth holders and the Havelock community.
