Havelock Redevelopment Project Information “Drop in”
It was great to see so many familiar faces at this week’s community drop-in session in Havelock.
We were pleased to welcome around sixty people overall, including berth holders, business owners and representatives of the aquaculture industry. Thank you to everyone who came along to chat with the team, share your thoughts, and find out more about the Havelock Redevelopment Project.
The drop-in was an opportunity for berth holders, industry, and Sounds Residents to learn about the plans to reinstate the Havelock Marina basin and channel, and to replace the ageing wooden jetties with modern floating concrete ones. It was great to see our berth holders there and for our project engineers and wider team to meet them in person.
Many people shared their experiences of sediment build-up in the marina and showed support for the redevelopment to help maintain safe, reliable access for vessels that support the Sounds, local aquaculture, and recreational boating.
The project is now moving into the resource consent phase. Our marinas customer service team are in touch with any berth holders who may be affected by the marina works, and the project team are in contact with neighbours and commercial businesses adjacent to project works.
We’ll continue to keep the community updated as this progresses and look forward to sharing more information as plans take shape. We’re hoping to hold another community information session once consents are in place and a firm timeline confirmed, and will update this project page with further details when available.
Below are the information boards from the drop in session, and if you have any feedback please contact our project team through communications@pmnz.co.nz
