News spread quickly this year that two of our most popular Sounds lodges were under new ownership and management. Big changes have taken place at both, and you should be excited to visit them this season. New executive chef Sam Webb has added some extra magic to Furneaux and Punga by introducing new menus in time for summer. Both still have the traditional favourite meals, but look out for some stunning new tastes, including a selection of small and large sharing plates and platters in these perfectly social Sounds environments.
Punga has the newly improved boatshed café operating through the day and is pumping out delicious pizzas and seafood platters. This is one of the Sounds’ best kept secrets for enjoying a craft beer or Marlborough wine right next to the water. In the evening the Punga Fern restaurant is open. The Punga Fern restaurant is an award winning restaurant, having won the Marlborough Rare Fare award and recently a Beef and Lamb award. Both lodges are proud to present a variety of fresh local seafoods with Greenshell Mussels, Cloudy Bay Clams and Regal Salmon to name a few of the delicacies on offer.
Extensive renovations have taken place over winter to the Suites at Furneaux and Punga, so if you’re thinking of tying up for a few days, they have a fabulous standard of accommodation to get away for a night or a weekend.
