The Menzshed

For just over a year, Shed 67 at Havelock Marina has been the home of the Menzshed.

Each Wednesday from 10 am to midday, the noise of tools and banter adds to the atmosphere at the Havelock Marina.

There are a good core of about a dozen active members, who’ve been lending a hand with various community-good projects about the town, like splitting fire-wood and mending gear for the pre-school. They are about to make new seating for the Havelock cemetery, and a Petanque Court in the domain. People will also get to enjoy their seats and picnic tables along the Link Pathway, once it is completed.

On the social side of things, the Menzshed entered a team in the Havelock social lawn bowls competition over the summer, and they won a few games, which they admit was a nice surprise!

In April, two members attended the Menzshed NZ Inc. AGM and ‘Sheddie’s Ramble’ in Masterton, and brought back several good ideas that will be incorporated into the Havelock shed. One immediate plan is to put a roof over the vacant ground beside Shed 67, to give them more room to tackle bigger projects and fit more members.

So, Chairman Mike Harbord says they are ready for you, so if you are keen to join please pop into Shed 67 any Wednesday morning to have a chat or you can email Mike at hmnutmegs@xtra.co.nz.
