Introducing Rhys Welbourn

The water, the mountains, the close community, and the dynamic work environment are some of the reasons why Rhys is very pleased to be back in Marlborough, after being away for five years.

He had left Port Marlborough in 2010 having received a scholarship to read for an MBA at Cranfield University, England. On completion, Rhys took the role of Infrastructure Manager at PrimePort Timaru, eventually taking on the additional roles of 2IC and Business Development (along with a brief spell as interim Container Terminal Manager).

Rhys has always had a love affair with boats. In his twenties he spent four years in France working as a river boat pilot. But rather than France, he has chosen the Marlborough Sounds as his home with his wife Honour and their three children, taking on the responsibility of the Port and Marinas’ operations as well as property and new business development.

Welcome back Rhys.
